BEKAA, Lebanon, April 7 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) distributed here on Tuesday humanitarian aid to about 5,000 displaced Syrian families living in different areas in Lebanon.
In a statement to KUNA, head of KRCS' mission Musaed Al-Enezi said that the aid campaign has started following the Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria hosted by Kuwait under the directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
This new aid phase aims to provide bread to 6,000 Syrian refugee families in Sidon, Bekaa, Tripoli and Akkar, he added.
He noted that the KRCS will provide the Lebanese Red Cross with a makeshift clinic and a vehicle to serve refugees.
Al-Enezi expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon and the Lebanese Red Cross for their efforts aiming at helping Syrian refugees across Lebanon.
Over the last three months, the KRCS handed out humanitarian aid involving heaters, blankets, garments for women and children, and diesel.
The society will continue to hand out aid to refugees in Tripoli, including dialysis and food packages during the holy month of Ramadan.
Kuwait has hosted three aid-pledging conferences for Syria in a bid to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
Lebanon is hosting about 38 percent of Syrian refugees, mostly women and children. (end) ayb.hm
