Kuwait calls for boosting tolerance, rejecting terrorism

JEDDAH, April 5 (KUNA) -- Director of Kuwait's Foreign Ministry's International Organizations Department, Jassem Al-Mubaraki, called Sunday for strengthening culture of tolerance and rejection of terrorism.
Al-Mubaraki said the bolstering of culture of tolerance and rejection of terrorism were importance amidst unprecedented challenges facing the Muslim world.
He was speaking after chairing a meeting of senior officials who were preparing for a meeting of foreign ministers of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), due in Kuwait next month.
One of the major challenges, he added, was surfacing of gangs who were killing people under the name of Islam thus tarnishing the image of Muslims around the world.
"This compel us to defend our religion," he added.
Saudi representative to the OIC Mohammad Tayyeb said challenges facing the Muslim world required collaboration of efforts to solve conflicts among OIC members and sectarian disputes within the country.
He said the senior officials would discuss a draft resolution that would condemn the coup of the Houthis against the legitimate leadership in Yemen, as well as supporting the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm against the militias.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani reiterated OIC's support to the military campaign against the Houthi militias, which was launched at the behest of the legitimate leadership to protect the Yemeni people.
The senior officials will discuss in their three-day meeting a host of issues like Palestinian cause, international terrorism, Islamophobia and the 10-year program. (end) nh.bs
