KUWAIT, April 5 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Sunday announced the launch of a new media plan to foreground Kuwait's humanitarian role globally under His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The campaign, "Humanitarian Media", was announced in a press statement by Sheikh Salman after he received a cable from His Highness the Amir appreciating the persistent efforts by the Information Ministry staff in the coverage of the Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria recently held here.
The success of Kuwait's humanitarian initiatives, including the three donors conferences for Syria over three successive years, has prompted the adoption of the campaign, the Minister said.
"Humanitarian Media" will offer programs to be produced by the Kuwaiti Radio and TV, then promoted through other mass media, to highlight the country's humanitarian policy extending worldwide, Sheikh Salman said.
Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, Kuwait has been supporting afflicted people, victims of catastrophes and crises around the globe, he stressed.
This has been crowned by the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait a "Humanitarian Center." Doubtless, such achievements have secured success for the three Syrian conferences, which prompted outpouring of Arab and international commendation of His Highness the Amir.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Salman expressed appreciation to all the ministry's officials and staff for their hard efforts to guarantee success of the third edition of the Syria conference.
He also thanked the Higher Coordination Committee of Conferences, the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry as well as other state bodies whose efforts granted the event honorable image. (end) tb.msa
