Israel arrests Palestinian MP in Ramallah

RAMALLAH, April 2 (KUNA) -- Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (parliament) Khalida Jarrar was arrested by Israeli security forces Thursday dawn from her house in Ramallah.
Israeli forces cordoned Jarrar's house in Ramallah before arresting her, seizing two laptops before they left, witnesses told KUNA.
The Israeli authorities ordered Jarrar last July to be transferred to Jericho but the decision was overturned two months later during which the Palestinian lawmaker launched a sit-in at the Legislative Council headquarters.
"This is a vengeful act for breaking the transfer order," head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club Qadoura Fares, said.
He added that the Israelis have no legal evidence to refer Jarrar to court, noting that today's move is a direct result of welcoming Palestine as the 123rd International Criminal Court (ICC) member yesterday. (end) nq.msa
