Pakistani PM vows to defend Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity

ISLAMABAD, March 30 (KUNA) - - Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday stated that Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.
According to a statement by PM House, the PM chaired a high level meeting in federal capital Islamabad attended by Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affair, Defense Minister, Chief of Army Staff and other senior officials who undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing situation in the Middle East.
It was emphasized that Pakistan stands committed to playing a meaningful role in arresting the deteriorating situation in the Middle East.
In the same context, and to facilitate early resolution of the crisis and to promote peace and unity of the Muslim Community, the prime minister would be contacting the leadership of brotherly countries. Pakistan called upon the United Nations, OIC, and the international community to play a constructive role in finding a political solution of the crisis.
The statement by the premier came at a time when Saudi led Operation Decisive Storm against the Houthi militants in Yemen is underway. (end) sbk.ibi
