Al-Safar tops triathlon "super sprint" event in Kuwait

By Fahad Al-Enizi KUWAIT, March 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Salman Al-Safar won the super sprint event, part of the first Kuwait international triathlon tournament which witnesses the participation of 100 triathletes from 15 countries.
The Kuwaiti triathlete conquered the super sprint race after beating a Spanish competitor.
Kuwait's Nadah Al-Jerwi came in second in the women section, trailing behind a Czech triathlete.
The event involves triathletes sprinting for a distance of 375 meters, followed by a cycling race for 12 kilometers and ending with a run for a distance of 2.5 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the sprint event of the triathlon saw Spanish athletes dominating the top positions both in the male and female races.
The event saw triathletes sprinting for a distance of 750 meters followed by a cycling race for 24 kilometers and ending with a run for 4 kilometers.
The Triathlon, a multiple sports discipline race, was first introduced in the 1920s. The highest governing body of the sport is the International Triathlon Union. (end) fsa.gta
