IPU's 132nd Assembly to kick off in Vietnam Sat.

HANOI, March 27 (KUNA) -- The 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly is to kick off Saturday in Hanoi, Vietnam with participation of a Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, led by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
The five-day forum is to open at the Vietnamese parliament HQs in Hanoi will gather more than 600 lawmakers from 113 countries.
Coordination meetings for participating parliamentary delegations are to precede the forum, including the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), in addition to Gulf and Arab countries.
The agenda of the IPU's 132nd Assembly and the 196th Session of the Governing Council includes reviewing reports by standing committees and approval of the subject items for the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security and the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade for the 134th Assembly and appointment of the rapporteurs.
Discussions will cover: cyber warfare - a serious threat to peace and global security; shaping a new system of water resources management: promoting parliamentary action on water and International law as it relates to national sovereignty, non-intervention in the internal affairs of states and human rights.
Kuwait's chief lawmaker will preside over a coordination meeting for the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) on the sidelines of the Assembly, in his capacity as AIPU's president.
He will also take part in similar Gulf, Asian and Islamic meetings for coordination over topics on the agenda of the IPU's Assembly.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes MPs Faisal Al Shaya, Dr. Awda Al-Rowaey, Saleh Ashour, Dr. Khalil Abdullah, Saif Al-Azmi and Madi Al-Hajri, and National Assembly Secretary-General Allam Al-Kandari. (end) mah.ams.ma
