HANOI, March 27 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-Vietnam ties have been witnessing accelerated development and growth over the last ten years on both parliamentary and governmental levels, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Hamad Al-Jutaili said here on Friday.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Jutaili said that the exchange of visits between senior officials of both countries contributed to growing these ties.
He referred to the participation of a Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, headed by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, in the conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) that will kick off here Saturday.
The Ambassador emphasized that the parliamentary diplomacy is part of the diplomacy used to serve the national causes, lauding efforts of the National Assembly in this regard.
Concerning the IPU meeting, Al-Jutaili commended Vietnam's preparations for this event.
He hoped the conference would take decisions that contribute to achieving international security and safety and addressing obstacles of sustainable development across the globe.
He noted that Kuwait was the first Gulf state that had established diplomatic relations with Vietnam, adding the Kuwait-Vietnam cooperation extends to all domains, especially the energy one.
The parliamentary delegation arrived in Hanoi earlier Friday to take part in the conference, which gathers a large number of MPs from several countries.
The delegation includes MPs Faisal Al Shaya, Dr. Awda Al-Rowaey, Saleh Ashour, Dr. Khalil Abdullah, Saif Al-Azmi and Madi Al-Hajri, and National Assembly Secretary-General Allam Al-Kandari. (end) mah.hm
