Commerce Min. says food reserves hit all-time high

KUWAIT, March 27 (KUNA) -- Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Anas Al-Saleh reassured citizens on Friday about the country's strategic food stocks, saying they hit an all-time high level.
"Kuwait's strategic food reserves have hit their highest ever-recorded level," the minister said in a press release, adding that the ministry is in touch with the private sector to secure additional food commodities if necessary.
The minister added that he had instructed his ministry's control agency to step up inspection measures in order to curb a possible staple price rise at the local market amid the current regional circumstances.
Al-Saleh, however, urged citizens and expatriates to inform the ministry about potential hikes in the prices of food commodities, according to the statement. (end) tab.mt
