Obama, Erdogan discuss ISIL, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, Iran

WASHINGTON, March 26 (KUNA) -- President Barack Obama spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday to discuss ongoing cooperation in the fight against ISIL and common efforts to bring security and stability to Iraq and Syria, the White House announced.
The two leaders reviewed the train-and-equip program for vetted members of the moderate Syrian opposition,. the announcement said. They also discussed efforts to deepen cooperation to stem the flow of foreign fighters, and the President expressed his appreciation for positive efforts in Turkey on this issue, it said.
Obama also expressed appreciation for Turkey continuing support to nearly two million refugees from Iraq and Syria, the statement said.
The two also discussed the latest developments in Yemen and Ukraine and in negotiations over Iran's nuclear program, and pledged to continue to work closely on these and other regional issues, it said. (end) rm.sd
