DOHA, March 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on Tuesday commended the launch of a unified e-gate for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and a project to link their government networks.
This places the GCC on the right path in terms of smart applications, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah told KUNA after he led the Kuwaiti delegation to the fourth GCC ministerial committee on e-government.
The newly launched gate is a safe network for contacts among the GCC official bodies, the Minister said.
He stressed the importance of identifying the government bodies that are most useful for the people before launching the link, which will start as bilateral.
The next step to be taken over the coming year is to shift from snail mail to e-mail, keeping pace with the global trend, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said.
The unified GCC e-gate offers visitors a brief on the member states and the services they offer, as well as the GCC Secretariat.
Today's meeting reviewed the outcome of the UN E-Government Survey 2014, as the GCC countries ranked 10th on the Arab level and the 50th globally, out of 193 countries, the Minister said. (pick up previous) nnd.tma.msa
