SHARM EL-SHEIKH, March 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's permanent delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani has emphasized his country's keenness on enhancing Arab solidarity in its capacity as President of the 25th Arab Summit.
Kuwait has spared no effort to support efforts to achieve solidarity in face of the besetting dangers, considering the critical conditions amid which the Kuwait Summit 2014 was held, Al-Daihani added.
The country has focused on the Palestinian cause, as the pivotal issue, he told a meeting for the League's permanent delegates and senior officials held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Tuesday to prepare for the 26th Arab Summit in Egypt.
On Syria, Al-Daihani said the Syrian crisis has been at the core of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's attention, especially on the humanitarian level.
He referred to the 3rd International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria Kuwait will host on 31 March, after the country hosted the first and second gatherings over the past two years.
Kuwait's delegation to the preparatory meeting was led by head of the Foreign Ministry's Arab World Department, Ambassador Abdulhamid Al-Failakawi.
The nation is looking out for the decisions to be taken by the 26th Summit to conserve the Arab national security, as well as supporting Arab issues and stability, Egypt's permanent delegate Ambassador Tareq Adel told the meeting.
Adel made the statement after he was handed over the presidency of the preparatory meeting from Kuwait's delegate.
Maintaining the security of the Arab nation and countering extremist groups will feature high on the agenda of the meeting, together with developments on the Palestine and other Arab countries. Calls for a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction will also be included.
Permanent delegates and senior officials will discuss the draft resolutions to referred to the Arab Foreign Ministers, then to the Arab leaders in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit next Saturday.
These will cover activating the Arab Peace Initiative, lifting the siege on Gaza and reconstruction in the Strip, the financial problems of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) besides developments in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Syria, he said.
