BEIRUT, March 23 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti military plane carrying relief aid for Syrian refugees arrived in the Lebanese capital Monday.
The aid, provided by the Kuwaiti Higher Committee for Relief, consist of 10 tons of food, baby milk, dates, clothes, wheelchairs, and blankets, Khaled Al-Hindi, head of the Committee's delegation, stated to KUNA.
The Kuwaiti relief efforts for Syrian refugees are upon directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the "Humanitarian Leader," in helping to alleviate the suffering of Syrian refugees in everywhere in the world, Al-Hindi said.
He also noted that 30 tons of additional aid are to be shipped on board Kuwaiti planes in the next few days, expressing his hope that the Kuwaiti philanthropic campaigns contribute to alleviating the suffering of Syrian refugees.
According to latest statistics, the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has surpassed a million, mostly reside in northern Lebanese areas.
Several Kuwaiti philanthropic and humanitarian activists, societies, foundations, and institutions, such as the Kuwaiti Higher Committee for Relief, strive to provide humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey, and Jordan. (end) mah.ma
