OIC condemns bloody terrorisr attack on Bardo Museum in Tunisia

JEDDAH, March 19 (KUANA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned on Thursday the bloody terrorist attack on Bardo National Museum in Tunisia that took place early on Wednesday, killing and injuring dozens of locals and tourists.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani said in a statement that "Such terrorist acts contradict humanitarian values, hamper establishment of institutions and deprive people of their right to live a safe and stable life".
He declared the OIC's total support for Tunisia and its people in encountering terrorism and those who work to destabilize security, economy and progress of the country, and distort its history that has a model of tolerance and enlightenment.
Madani stressed on importance of fighting terrorism, delegitimize its actions, besides prosecution of its members. He emphasized OIC's position of condemning all forms of terrorism.
He offered deepest condolences to the victims' families and his wishes of rapid recovery for the wounded.
Two gunmen sneaked into Bardo National Museum, located adjacent to Tunisian Parliament, and opened fire at visitors. Then they arrested a number of people and held them as hostages before security personnel clashed with them. The violence resulted in death of 22 people, including at least two of the gunmen, and injury of 50 others. (end) nh.lb
