KUWAIT, March 10 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim affirmed on Tuesday ongoing consultations between the Kuwaiti and Iranian parliaments on Islamic issues.
In a joint press conference with visiting Speaker of Iran's Shura Council Ali Larijani, Al-Ghanim said that the Iranian guest met today with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah where they discussed, among other things, "Kuwaiti and Gulf fears regarding Iran's nuclear program." Larijani informed His Highness the Amir of the latest developments of the Iranian negotiations with western powers regarding the nuclear issue, said Al-Ghanim.
He added that talks between His Highness the Amir and Larijani covered a number of issues including media strategies to deal with them.
Among these issues were the continental drift, Al-Durra field, and border demarcation.
On his part, Larijani noted at the press conference that today's talks with Kuwaiti officials "went very well" describing the role of His Highness the Amir in dealing with the region's issues as "very distinguished." He said the two sides discussed improving economic and trade relations and underscored his country's stance against terrorism in the region, saying Iran stood by its neighbors and friends in that regard.
Larijani and a delegation with him arrived in Kuwait yesterday on an official visit to hold talks with his counterpart Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and with other dignitaries. (pickup previous) rkh.ajs
