UN official lauds KRCS philanthropic work

KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) -- A UN official has commended the humanitarian work of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) providing aid and relief to people in need or suffering repercussions of catastrophes.
In a press statement following a meeting with KRCS Honorary Treasurer Saad Al-Nahedh on Thursday, Sub-regional Coordinator of the Development Response Gustavo Gonzalez, pointed to the Society's distinguished relief initiatives.
He also stressed the KRCS's efforts to aid Syrian refugees in Syria's neighboring countries, as well as rapidly responding to victims of catastrophes and man-made disasters worldwide.
The UN official expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for approving to host the Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria.
Kuwait hosted the First and the Second Conference over the past two years.
For his part, Al-Nahedh said that since the eruption of the Syrian crisis, the KRCS hurried to provide the needs of the Syrian refugees who fled fighting at home to neighboring.
He also reviewed visits by KRCS teams to Jordan and Lebanon where they had first-hand knowledge of the refugees' ordeal. (end) ako.nfa.msa
