DOHA, March 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah underlined importance of cooperation and coordination among the Arab Gulf countries in a drive to boost role of youth and common sport action.
Sheikh Salman was speaking to KUNA following his arrival in Doha Tuesday to participate in a meeting of the ministers of youth and sport of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
He said the meeting aimed at bolstering role of youth in all domains amidst conflicts in the region, which required the empowerment of youth.
The ministers, he added, would discuss programs for the youth that would reject extremism in order to protect the youth from these threats.
Sheikh Salman said he would be meeting tomorrow with the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani who would honor sport and youth leaders.
Sheikh Salman, commending the development of sport in Qatar, said Kuwait was happy that Qatar would be hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022. "We are proud and happy with the host." He said he was confident the 2022 world cup would be a full success. (end) nnd.bs
