PARIS, March 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's cultural office officials in Paris held a meeting Tuesday with a delegation from Paul Valery University, Montpellier III (UM3) in which 16 Kuwaiti students are currently enrolled in different academic majors.
The meeting was part of activating Kuwait's academic cooperation with European universities, improving student exchange plan, and allowing visits exchange between professors from Kuwait University (KU) and international universities, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Radhwan, Director of Kuwait's Cultural Office in Paris, stated to KUNA.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the condition of Kuwaiti students at UM3, from the language to graduate level, Al-Radhwan said, adding that they also discussed the difficulties that might face students, as well as facilitations provided by the university to the students in accordance with the signed agreement between the cultural office and the French university.
The Kuwaiti cultural office has presented a new proposal to boost and develop the student exchange program through cooperation between the French Language department at KU and the Linguistic Sciences department at MU3, aiming to establish a joint Master's degree by KU and MU3 to students who complete required hours from both universities, Al-Radhwan said.
The meeting also discussed the idea of visits exchange between Kuwaiti and French professors under the framework of academic conferences in both countries, he said, pointing out that this would increase the opportunity of a wider educational-cultural exchange.
On cooperation development between the two sides, Al-Radhwan said that the meeting touched upon allowing Kuwaiti students to enroll in other majors at UM3 as they are currently enrolled in linguistic studies, applied foreign languages, mass communications, and cultural studies, adding that new suggested majors include psychology, history, arts history, fine arts, economic and administrative organization.
