Municipal panel OKs new housing city

KUWAIT, March 3 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Municipality's technical committee has granted the request of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) to allocate a plot of land for a new housing city at the central area lying between Sabah Al-Ahmad and Al-Khairan residential cities.
The request was given the thumbs up during the municipal committee's meeting held on Tuesday.
Emerging from the meeting, the head of the committee Fahad Al-Sanea said in a press statement that the new housing city is situated in the south of Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City and covers roughly 61.5 kilometers.
The project aims to provide 25,000 housing units, with 58 percent of the city to be allocated for houses, schools, clinics and vital utilities and 6 percent for investment housing, he added.
The fresh city is part of the Kuwait Municipality's efforts to provide suitable houses to Kuwaiti citizens, Al-Sanea pointed out. (end) fz.hb.mt
