GCC joint naval exercise Union 17 kicks off in UAE

ABU DHABI, March 3 (KUNA) -- The joint naval exercise, Union 17, has commenced with the participation of naval forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and is set to run until 12th March.
According to a official statement carried by the UAE news agency (WAM) Tuesday, the exercise is part of annual joint exercises between the GCC member states in order to raise the level of combat efficiency and the spirit of mutual cooperation in the leadership and management of the joint operations in real naval war to face any challenges facing the GCC countries.
The aim of this exercise is to unify the operational concepts and achieve cooperation and integration in the implementation of joint operations in general and the navy in particular, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to achieve the greatest possible unification of the concept of joint operations between the Gulf Cooperation Council forces.
