Parl't panel rejects requests to lift MPs immunity

KUWAIT, March 3 (KUNA) -- The National Assembly Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee on Tuesday rejected requests from the Public Prosecution to lift immunity of MPs Saadoun Al Otaibi, Nabeel Al-Fadel and Dr. Abdul Hameed Dashti in for interrogation in relation to four different cases.
Meanwhile, the committee discussed proposed amendments to Law of Civil and Commercial Proceedings, enacted by Decree 38/1980, in addition to four relevant parliamentary proposals, rapporteur, Dr. Abdul Hameed Dashti said in a press statement.
He added that the committee approved to add a new article to provisions of Premarital Law No.31/2008. The new item aims to protect would-be families through providing due documents on eligibility of both parties for marriage.
Also today, the committee approved an amendment to article 19 of Law No. 41/1993 on State Purchase of Select Debts and Collection, Dashti noted. (end) rkf.nfa.msa
