ABU DHABI, March 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Team's fencer Yousef Al-Shamlan won the gold medal Monday in Sabre competitions of the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships, currently held in the UAE capital and is to conclude on March 9th.
Al-Shamlan won the medal after defeating his South Korean counterpart 15-11 in the finals, Thuwaini Al-Hajri, Secretary of Kuwait Fencing Association (KFA), stated to KUNA, praising the Kuwaiti fencer's good performance and skills throughout the tournament that led him to this achievement for Kuwaiti fencing.
KFA looks forward to achieving more medals for the Kuwait team in remaining Epee and Foil competitions of the tournament, Al-Hajri said, wishing good luck for rest of the team in repeating Al-Shamlan's accomplishment and attain advanced ranks.
He also affirmed KFA's keenness in activating the role junior and cadets team and provide with better preparation for forthcoming competitions, as well as more competitions and experience. (end) asa.ma
