KUWAIT, March 2 (KUNA) -- Advisor at the Amiri Diwan Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar underscored here on Monday success of this year's Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Festival which concluded last night, thanks to the broad participation in the competitions and events, which lasted more than 70 days.
Sharar, who is also the general supervisor of the festival, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after honoring winners of the camels competitions, that Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village, headquarters of the festival, was attended by about 600,000 visitors during the past period which included visitors from Kuwait, Gulf and residents, who keenly followed up the various competitions and enjoyed recreational and service facilities of the village.
Sharar also praised patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his sponsorship of the festival, which has become, thanks to his interest and sponsorship, a milestone among all heritage forums in the region, He also praised follow-up of Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah that contributed to overcoming all the difficulties facing the organizing committee, noting the efforts of its members as well.
He noted that this year's land and sea competitions saw huge participation that exceeded 6,000 persons, adding that more than 600 awards have been distributed to the winners.
Sharar expressed happiness for holding the Gulf Cup horse endurance championship sponsored by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum last Friday. (end).
