Kuwaitis win first places in Bahrain's drag racing tourney

KUWAIT, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti racers snatched first places after bagging 13 trophies in the fourth round of the Bahrain drag racing championship, which came to a close earlier today.
In the cars' race, champion Hussein Al-Shamri came first in the "pro-mod", his fellow Abdulwahab Al-Selim and Jaber Al-Maghrabi also won the first places in the "outlaw" and the "index-4.5" contests respectively.
Turki Al-Humaidi came first, followed by his fellow Abdullah Khodadah in the "super street" category.
In the "street bike" contest, Moussa Al-Balochi and Bader Al-Eidan were ranked first and third respectively, while Mesfer Al-Mesfer won the first place, followed by Al-Eidan and Ahmad Al-Joaidan in the category of "super street bike".
Mohammad Borashid and Mohammad Al-Yaqout won first and second places respectively in the "pro-bike" contest.
In a statement to KUNA by telephone on Saturday, Head of Basel Al-Sabah Racing Club's higher committee Sheikh Duaij Al-Fahad Al-Sabah commended performance of the Kuwaiti racers and their keenness on snatching advanced places and raising their country's flag in international events.
Sheikh Duaij also applauded better preparations made for racers to help them compete fiercely with other contesters, stressing that the team will continue its readiness to participate in the coming championships.
Sheikh Duaij voiced his gratitude to the Kuwaiti officials at the drag race game for their efforts that backed racers and to fans for supporting their national team.
The third round of the championship was held last December, while the second and first rounds were organized last November and October respectively. (end) ayr.tb.hm
