KUWAIT, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Embassy in Mexico has held a ceremony marking the 54th National Day, the 24th Liberation Day and the ninth anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of power.
The embassy said in a statement on Friday that Ambassador Sameeh Jawhar Hayat received congratulations from Mexican senior officials on the occasion of naming of His Highness the Amir as a Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center by the UN last year.
Ambassador Hayat stated His Highness the Amir spares no effort in supporting vulnerable and needy people across the world, noting that His Highness the Amir ordered donations for children treatment suffering from cancer in Mexico.
He, on behalf of the embassy's staff, extended congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and all Kuwaiti people on the national events, the statement added.
Hayat commended the Kuwait-Mexico distinguished relations, noting the two leaders are keen on cementing them on all levels. He said that Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, accompanied by a high-level delegation, is set to visit Kuwait this year, adding some deals would be inked in the fields of education, trade, health and investment. In Athens, Kuwait's embassy held a glittering reception on the national days and Ambassador Raed Abdullah Al-Rifai as well as embassy's staff welcomed guests.
Greece's deputies of ministers of Interior, and Defense, representatives of political parties and MPs as well as members of diplomatic missions of Arab and foreign countries were present in the event.
Al-Rifai conveyed congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister and all Kuwaiti people on these occasions.
The ambassador wished Kuwait continuous stability and further prosperity under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir.
The embassy last year celebrated the 50 anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti embassy to South Africa held a ceremony in Pretoria marking the national events in the presence of senior officials of the government, police and army as well media people and members of diplomatic missions.
