KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, on a current visit to Singapore, met on Friday with Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob discussing means of cementing bilateral relations between the two countries.
MP Khalil Abdullah, head of the Kuwaiti friendship group, told KUNA by telephone the speaker began the meeting, expressing congratulations on Kuwait's National Days, wishing the Kuwaiti people further progress and prosperity. He also quoted her as calling for diversifying trade exchanges and thanked the Kuwaiti government for granting scholarships for students of the Asian country.
The legislator indicated that Kuwait, while implementing the five-year development plan, could learn from Singapore's experinece at this level, also calling for opening an embassy in Kuwait to facilitate contributions to national ventures.
MP Faisal Al-Duaisan, a member of the Kuwaiti delegation, said he thanked the Singapore leadership for taking part in the international alliance that liberated Kuwait in 1991, as well as its joining of the international coalition in the fight against terrorism. (end) mam.rk
