Earthquake jolts various parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- A 5.8-magnitued earthquake jolted different parts of the country, including federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas early on Friday.
According to Pakistan Metrological Department, the quake, with the epicenter located at Alai 51 kilometers northern Mansehra city, was at the depth 32 kilometers and lasted for 57 seconds.
The tremors were also felt in Islamabad, Murree, Abbottabad, Swat, Mansehra, Haripur, Malakand, Nowshehra, Shangla and Batgram areas.
The earthquake was followed by two aftershocks with a magnitude of 3.2 and 4, said metrological department.
A senior administrative official, Zarif Ul Maani, told media that at least five people were injured and two houses were damaged in Batgram district of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
In 2013, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake devastated several areas in southwestern Balichistan province killing at least 370 people and leaving 100,000 homeless. (end) sbk.tg
