Kuwait's National Days observed in UAE, the Netherlands

KUWAIT, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's diplomatic missions abroad have proceeded with celebrations of the National Days and receiving congratulations on the occasion and in the United Arab Emirates, local authorities and citizens shared the Kuwaitis the joyful event with various activities and public decorations.
At the UAE border exits and airports, UAE citizens are greeting Kuwaitis with roses and congratulatory cards on the 54th Kuwait National Day and the 24th Liberation Anniversary. And in the cities, public locations and main streets are adorned with the Kuwaiti Flags and large photos of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Television stations broadcast celebratory activities in Kuwait, while several poetic soires and concerts were held. Pictures and videos of the Kuwaitis' celebrations have been viral on the electronic social media, involving UAE citizens expressing solidarity and cordial feelings toward Kuwait and its people.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UAE Salah Mohammad Al-Buaijan, in remarks to KUNA, expressed deep gratitude for the warm sentiments expressed by the UAE brothers, noting the solid ties that have been bonding the peoples of Kuwait and the UAE.
Elsewhere, Kuwait's embassy in the Hague, the Netherlands, last night, held a glittering reception on the occasions. The visiting Kuwaiti Minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Yaqoub Al Sanea, was present to welcome the guests along with Kuwait's Ambassador Hafeez Al Ajmi. "Today is a distinguished event and a happy event for all Kuwaitis and in every Kuwaiti heart. This big gathering including ambassadors and officials from Holland and all parts of the world shows the place Kuwait occupies in its leading role in cooperation with the countries around the world," Al Sanee told KUNA.
He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the UN-acclaimed "Humanitarian Leader," His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the wise leadership and to the government and the people of Kuwait on the national events.
"I am very happy to see with my own eyes this big gathering and by God's blessings I was able be present in Holland following an invitation by the Dutch minister of justice," he added. Al Sanea said he was also happy to meet the "brothers working in Q8" who had set up a special stall at the sidelines of the reception to showcase their products.
He noted that Q8 headquarters in Europe is based at the Hague and said "we saw many of their works that we as Kuwaitis are proud of and in particular of the capabilities of the Kuwaitis." "This administration shows that Kuwait is really a country that produces competence and capabilities," he added. Kuwait's ambassador to the Netherlands Hafeez Al Ajmi warmly congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and the people of Kuwait.

"I am very happy that for the fifth time I am celebrating the national day and the liberation of our nation here in this beautiful city of the Hague and in this friendly country," he told KUNA.
"I am happy over the big progress in the development of Dutch-Kuwaiti relations and also over the presence of His Excellency the Justice, Al Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Yaqoub Al Sanea, and his accompanying delegation," said Al Ajmi adding that "we discussed bilateral ties with the Dutch minister of justice and security yesterday." He cited a number of visits by Kuwaiti ministers such as those of the foreign minister and the oil minister to Holland and exchange of visits by high officials between the two countries in recent years as a clear sign of excellent bilateral ties.
Dutch-Kuwaiti economic ties are growing and trade exchanges have reached to three billion euro annually, he noted. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation has a huge refinery at the port of Rotterdam.
US ambassador to the Netherlands, Timothy Broas, wished Kuwait a happy anniversary of independence and for 24 years since the county was liberated.
"We obviously the US played a big role in that and we are happy to be here as Kuwait's friend," he told KUNA.
Birgitta Tazelaar, Director of North Africa and Middle East department in the Dutch Foreign Ministry, said "we congratulate this great occasion of Kuwait." "The Netherlands and Kuwait have very good relations already for a very long time. There is lot of trade between us, lot of friendship between us and we look forward to continuing that," she added.
Dr. M.K. Bouchahda, President of the Arab writers and journalists in Europe Foundation, wished progress and prosperity to Kuwait.
"Kuwait has been known internationally for its media and secondly for its development fund and these are great things," said the Tunisian intellectual and writer.
