AMMAN, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- His Highness the visiting Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held talks with the Jordanian King Abdullah II at Basman Palace here Monday.
The two leaders discussed means to boost bilateral relations and cooperation in different domains as well as the latest developments in the region.
During the talks, His Highness the Amir boasted the advanced relations between the two Arab countries and the efforts exerted to achieve common interests and serve the two nations.
For his part, King Abdullah expressed great appreciation of the supportive stances of Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sabah, to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He also lauded the strong relations between the two countries.
King Abdullah congratulated Kuwaiti leadership and people on the national days which Kuwait marks this week.
The two leaders stressed the need to intensify and expand cooperation and coordination to tackle the enormous challenges facing the region, especially the growing phenomenon of extremism and terrorism.
They emphasized the necessity of unifying Arab and Muslim countries' stances of terrorism. They also called for greater role for the religious institutions in Arab and Muslim countries to promote the tolerant and moderate teachings of Islam and fight the extremist ideologies.
His Highness the Amir reiterated Kuwait's firm stance against terrorism and extremism. He also expressed Kuwait's support to efforts to spread the message of security, peace and humanity for which the Jordanian pilot Moath Al-Kasasbah was martyred.
His Highness the Amir also voiced Kuwait's backing to Jordan's wise policies and approaches in dealing with the rapid developments in the region with a view to guaranteeing security and stability of its territories and the safety of its people.
The two leaders also reviewed with the efforts made to resume the peace process and to enhance joint Arab action to serve Arab and Muslim interests.
The meeting was also attended from the Kuwaiti side by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Amiri Diwan Advisor Mohammad Sharar, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and other members of the accompanying official delegation.
Also present at the meeting from the Jordanian side, besides the King, were Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Head of the Royal Hashemite Court Fayez Tarawneh, the Jordanian King's Military Advisor and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Jordanian Armed Forces Mishaal bin Mohammad Al-Zain, the King's National Security Advisor and Chairman of the General Intelligence Directorate Faisal Al-Shoubaki, Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Minister Nasser Judeh, and several senior government officials.
