BEIRUT, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and visiting Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer discussed here on Monday bilateral ties and a number of issues of common concern as well as Syria's humanitarian crisis.
Following the meeting, Al-Sayer told KUNA in a statement that he and Salam reviewed projects carried out by KRCS in Lebanon and Kuwait's role in supporting displaced Syrian families in all countries since the outbreak of the crisis.
He said that Lebanon faces major burdens as it hosts the largest number of Syrian refugees, affirming that Kuwait is keen to support Beirut constantly in this regard.
The Kuwaiti support is carried out in implementation of directions of His highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah aiming to alleviate the sufferings of Syrian refugees, he noted.
He commended the depth of the Kuwait-Lebanon relations, emphasizing that the two leaders are eager to upgrade bilateral relations that serve the interest of the two peoples.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) honored on Monday Al-Sayer and KRCS Honorary Treasurer Saad Al-Nahedh.
The LRC Secretary General George Kettaneh told KUNA that they were honored due to their humanitarian effort that contributes to helping needy people. (end) mah.hm
