Iran wishes to sign nuclear safety treaty with neighboring countries - Salehi

TEHRAN, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- President of Iran's atomic energy organization Ali Akbar Salehi said Sunday Iran was ready to sign a treaty with neighboring countries for nuclear safety.
"Iran wishes to sign a nuclear safety treaty with regional countries that include exchange of information over environmental changes, with the aim of preventing any accident that can harm the environment," Salehi was quoted by official media as saying.
Salehi said such an agreement was "essential." He said a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Iranian atomic energy organization and the environment protection organization in Iran.
This MoU, added Salehi, would coordinate between the two sides over radioactive resources, nuclear facilities and all nuclear activities.
Iran is negotiating with the P5+1 group regarding its nuclear program, and the talks aim at concluding a comprehensive agreement that would address Western countries' concern over the nuclear program in return of easing of international sanctions against the Islamic Republic. (end) mw.bs
