CAIRO, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi said Saturday confrontation against terrorist groups would be "tough and fierce, and will take a very long time." Al-Sisi made the remarks while he was chairing a meeting of the supreme council of armed forces in the wake of an attack against Egyptian forces in northern Sinai that killed some 30 and injured around 50 others, the state TV reported.
Al-Sisi, who extended condolences for families of the victims, affirmed that Egyptian armed forces would ultimately defeat terrorism.
Al-Sisi formed a unified command for the East Suez Canal region, aimed at fighting terrorism. (end) esm.bs
