EU condemns attacks in Sinai

BRUSSELS, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- The EU Friday condemned yesterday's terrorist attacks in the Northern Sinai region of Egypt saying they "undermine Egypt's stability and economic development." "The fight against terrorism will remain EU's priority and, together with our partners, we need to jointly tackle this common threat," note EU High Representative Federica Mogherini in a statement. "We wish to express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Egypt. The EU stands by Egypt in its efforts to address the multiple challenges the country is facing," she said.
Thursday's attack in Sinai region have resulted in the death of over 29 people, the wounding of many and the destruction of state infrastructure, added the statement. (end) nk.ajs
