Lebanon condemns recent Israeli violations

BEIRUT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's cabinet condemned on Thursday Israel's recent aggressions on southern border towns, particularly the occupied Shebaa Farms.
Lebanon calls on the United Nations and its affiliate agencies to shoulder their responsibilities for preventing Israeli from endangering peace and security in the region, Minister of Information Ramzi Jrayj said in a statement following weekly cabinet session.
The cabinet also affirmed keenness to preserve security and stability in south Lebanon and all Lebanese areas, stressing importance to disallow Israel from dragging Lebanon into a wide confrontation that would threatens the region's countries and people, as well as whole regional peace.
It also confirmed Lebanon's commitment to UN resolution 1701, as well as the presence of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers in south of the country, expressing deep condolences to UNIFIL and Spain over the death of a Spanish peacekeeper who was killed by Israeli raids.
The cabinet also noted that countering any Israeli aggression is done, at foremost, by unification and solidarity of all Lebanese citizens, stressing the importance to keep away any interior dispute at current stage. (end) wsa.ma
