AMMAN, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea arrived here on Wednesday, leading "the Humanitarian Leader campaign" in aid of the Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.
This campaign is part of Kuwait's efforts to meet the needs of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, he told KUNA.
The campaign takes place at a time when Kuwait is preparing to host the third international donor conference, due in March, Minister Al-Sanea said, stressing the importance of delivering a message to the world to support Syrian refugees who currently suffer severe and harsh climate conditions.
He also stressed the importance of the "Humanitarian Leader" campaign as it comes as a response to wise directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for all non-profit organizations, civil society institutions, and the Kuwaiti people to support Syrian refugees and alleviate their suffering.
He highlighted the significant efforts being exerted by Awqaf Ministry, the Zakat House, Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation, International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO), and rest of non-profit bureaus.
Meanwhile, Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Abdulhafeth welcomed Minister Al-Sanea's visit as a crowning moment for Kuwait's continued relief efforts for the Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.
He said, in statements to KUNA while receiving Al-Sanea at the airport, that the number of refugees in his country is currently 1.5 million.
The Kuwaiti Minister is accompanied by IICO's Chairman and Amiri Diwan Advisor Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq, Zakat House Director General Ibrahim Al-Saleh, Deputy Secretary General at Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation Mohammed Al-Jalahma, and Ahmad Al-Qarawi, Director of Media Department at Awqaf Ministry.
