Info. Min. stresses interest in youth initiative promotion

KUWAIT, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said here on Wednesday it is necessary to take more care of young people and to spur their own initiatives pursuant to the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He stressed, in a press statement, the significant role played by the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, in paying much heed to Kuwaiti young people and to give them a helping hand whenever necessary.
"This reflects the concept of caring for youth and capitalizing on their physical energies in the sports realm, particularly football which is the most popular sport in the world," the minister said.
Sheikh Salman Sabah cited the initiative called Mubaratuna or Our Game which aims to boost the number of football fields in the country as a clear-cut paradigm of the ministry's care for youth in Kuwait.
Since it was launched, the project has attracted over 1.2 million young people, the minister said, adding that the number of football fields has now reached 108 nationwide.
"Through this project, the youth ministry is seeking to develop the capabilities of young people and to invest their spare time through diverse activities purposed to help them demonstrate their skills in various fields," he said.
The minister boasted that this project has created a quantum leap in sports services offered to young people, mainly providing them with the congenial atmosphere for practicing football. (end) abd.mt
