KUWAIT, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed much sadness and sorrow over the passing away of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
"The world has lost a great man, and the Arab and Muslims worlds have lost one of their prominent leaders who devoted his life to serving his nation, people and both Arab and Muslim nations, and struggled to promote Arab and Muslim integration, maintain unity and decry differences, strife and extremism," His Highness the Amir said.
He mentioned the strides the Kingdom has made since the late King assumed power which took it to the forefront of developed nations, in addition to his great services to Islam and Muslims, primarily expansion projects at the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madina which made easier for Muslims to perform Hajj and Umrah duties.
His Highness the Amir described the late King as a wise and farsighted leader who could address numerous crises across both the Arab and Muslim worlds.
The late King alo effectively contributed to the resolution of many international and humanitarian issues, and advocated interfaith dialogue aimed at promoting peace and coexistence.
His Highness the Amir said the State of Kuwait, leadership and people alike, recall with all pride and appreciation the honorable stance assumed by both the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and his brother the late King Fahad bin Abdulaziz during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, not to mention the Saudi people's support extended to Kuwaiti citizens.
His Highness the Amir prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless the soul of the late king with mercy in Paradise and to bring solace to the Saudi royal family and people.
He went on to wish success and wellbeing for the newly-enthroned King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz in continuing the this progress. (end) mt.sd
