Arab League chief to offer condolences for demise of late Saudi King Abdullah

CAIRO, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby will head to Saudi Arabia to offer his condolences to the new King Salman, the new Crown Prince Muqrin, the royal family and the whole Saudi people for the demise of late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
Al-Araby expressed his deep sorrow and sadness over the death of the late king Abdullah, said a statement by the Arab League General Secretariat on Friday.
"The death of late King Abdullah is a loss to the Arab world and humanity as well. He was a sincere and courageous leader. He was able to face wisely and solidly challenges. He believed in Arab issues and defended them at tough circumstances," the statement noted.
Al-Araby prayed to Allah to bless the soul of the late King with mercy in Paradise, it noted.
King Abdullah passed away at 1 am this morning. His bother Salman became the King and Muqrin has been named the Crown Prince. (end) mfm.aff.hm
