Roadside blast kills 8 people in S. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- At least eight people, including four women and a child, were killed on Tuesday when a roadside bomb tore through a passenger coach in southern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, said police.
Ghazni deputy police chief, Col. Asadullah Insafi told media that another two people sustained injuries in the blast that took place in Wocha Qala area on a road between Gilan and Jaghori districts of Ghazni.
The official accused Taliban rebels for placement of the improvised explosive device that killed four women, a child and three men. The injured were shifted to a health facility in Jaghori district immediately.
The blast targeted the coach at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks following the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF forces from Afghanistan handing over the security control to Afghan national forces from January 1st. (end) sbk.mt
