MoI adopts zero tolerance with abuse of handicapped parking lots

KUWAIT, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior affirmed Friday that punitive measures have been taken against motorists who abuse handicapped parking lots.
Upon directions of the Ministry's Undersecretary Lieutenant-General Suleiman Al-Fahad, the legal measures have already got underway in order to protect the rights of the disabled persons, the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh said in a statement.
The main goal is to promote awareness among violators about the importance of the handicap parking lots in meeting the needs of the disabled, Al-Sayegh said, adding that occupying these parking lots by others would cause difficulties for the handicapped and violate their rights granted by the law.
Firm implementation of the ministry's procedures will continue under an integrated system of cooperation and coordination among traffic, public security, and rescue police departments, he said, praising the security media department's distinctive role in this awareness campaign.
Al-Sayegh also stressed the importance of team work and spirit to attain the desired goal, indicating that police, public security, and rescue staff workers are taking on upon their shoulders a very noble and humanitarian task, which deserves every respect and appreciation as it confirms Kuwait's civilized aspect and its constant care for the disabled.
