Russia warns of retaliation against US, Canadian sanctions

MOSCOW, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- Russia warned that it would retaliate against US and Canadian new sanctions, which target Russia and the Crimea.
Crimea and its people are part of Russia, which will not bow to external pressures, said a statement by Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
Imposing new sanctions against Russia shows that the West has no intention to settle the dispute in the Ukraine, it said, noting that the sanctions run mainly counter to the political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and send a signal of direct support for "the party of war" in Kiev.
