Kuwait disabled basketball team face UAE in GCC tourney tomorrow

KUWAIT, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti disabled basketball team faces tomorrow UAE in the 7th Gulf games for the disabled, while Bahrain meet Saudi Arabia in the same opening day.
After the draw for tomorrow's matches by the technical committee, the Omani team will rest during the opening day, but will start next Sunday against the Saudis.
The tournament, which will be held in Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, will be conducted through a one-round league system count, with the team that gets the highest points will win the title, but if two teams got the same points, direct encounters between them will be the decisive factor, later the points recorded in all matches.
The head of the Higher Organizing Committee of the championship and President of the Disabled Club Shafi Al-Hajri expressed pleasure for hosting the tournament which brings together a great competition to all GCC disabled players.
Al-Hajri also welcomed all delegations participating in the biggest gathering in the Gulf for this sport.
In a statement to reporters after the draw Friday, Al-Hajri said the eight-day tournament will witness great competition due to improvement that has occurred in recent years for most of the participating teams.
In terms of preparations, Al-Hajri said the Kuwaiti team was engaged in a training camp in Turkey, which lasted for 11 days, held a number of friendly matches with Turkish teams, in addition to participating in a mini-championship last month which witnessed Italy and Egypt. (end) fsa.mb
