PARIS, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- Vice-President of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations WFEO Bashayer Al-Awwad said Friday the federation is working out important strategies and projects to promote woman empowerment in the coming stage in collaboration with the UNESCO.
"A delegation representing Kuwaiti female engineers took part in the meeting of WFEO's Executive Board and Standing Committee on Women in Engineering, held recently here," she told KUNA.
Eng. Al-Awwad, also Chair of the Standing Committee, said a workshop was held on the fringe of the meeting to discuss ways of enhancing woman leadership with consultants from several global organizations taking part.
"During the meeting WFEO's Executive Board agreed to coordinate with representative of Italian engineers Ania Lopez, in charge of the organizing committee of Milano Expo 2015, towards empowering women," she said, noting that the expo will continue until Dubai Expo 2020.
She noted that the meeting also approved a proposal by the Committee on Women in Engineering to build a strategic partnership with the UNESCO in order to network with women associations around the globe.
"The partnership aims to make the best possible use of the activities of women associations, such as conferences, workshops, symposia and training courses, on the local, regional and international levels.
"It will give momentum to the sharing of information, views and experience among these associations in such areas as engineering, technology and sciences through a single website," Eng. Al-Awwad went on.
The participants in the meeting agreed that the State of Kuwait will be the seat of this project in recognition of the country's efforts in the field of woman empowerment.
The project will come to existence on March 8, 2015, as part of the celebrations marking the International Women's Day.
The meeting also approved Kuwait's bid to host the WFEO's first women congress, she added. (end) amm.gb
