Min. Al-Essa emphasizes curricula upgrade to harness student skills

RABAT, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Education and Higher Education Bader Al-Essa has underscored the importance of curricula update in harnessing student skills and enhancing their creativity.
In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the Seventh Conference of the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, Al-Essa also called for ameliorating scientific research to help achieve sustainable development and equip the students with the required skills on the labor market.
He pointed out that the government of Kuwait is prioritizing education and scientific research issues.
The government's strenuous efforts to develop education came within the framework of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's vision to achieve a comprehensive development, progress and welfare.
The two-day conference, themed "Higher Education: Governance, Innovation and Employability" is held by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training of the Kingdom of Morocco, and in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
It examines a number of reports and documents on research in science, innovation and knowledge economies, promotion of key factors in higher education, and the establishment of OIC collaborative efforts in commercialization and entrepreneurship education (OIC-CECE).
A round table will also be organized on the theme of "Promoting Key Factors in Higher Education: Governance, Innovation and Employability".
In addition, the heads of participating delegations in the conference, representing the OIC Member States, will present statements and reports on national programmes of higher education, scientific research and technology.
At the close of its sessions, the Conference will elect the members of the Consultative Council for the Implementation of the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation in Islamic Countries and adopt the "Rabat Declaration on Developing the Higher Education and Scientific Research System in the Muslim World".
