(With CUL-UNESCO-ARABIC LANGUAGE DAY) KUWAIT, Dec 18 (KUNA) -- On the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day, an Arabic calligraphy gallery themed "verses and lines" was opened here on Thursday.
The gallery featuring magnificent portraits of Quranic verses gathered a constellation of Kuwait calligraphers and formative artists, Assistant Secretary General of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-As'ousi told KUNA.
"The event and the sideline artistic workshop show our allegiance to the Arabic language and culture which were able to stand the test of time," he said.
"NCCAL is keen on working with other local, regional and international to spread awareness about the Arabic language and culture," Al-As'ousi added.
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) chose December 18 as a day for celebrating World Arabic Langue Day in October, 2012 as part of efforts to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity.
