Qatari academics hail GCC Summit's honoring of His Highness The Amir

DOHA, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Qatari academic figures have affirmed honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah by the recent GCC Summit "crowned his humanitarian initiatives that made Kuwait an international center for humanitarian and charitable works." Dr. Khaled Al-Jaber, professor of political media at Qatar University, in an interview with KUNA, lauded the GCC leaders' special tribute to His Highness the Amir at conclusion of their 35th summit for his recent designation by the United Nations as a "humanitarian leader," that was coupled with identical praise for Kuwait, granting it the title as "humanitarian center." Dr. Abdullah Baaboud, the director of the Gulf Research Center at the university, said in remarks to KUNA the special admiration expressed by the GCC leaders at the Doha summit was on occasion of the UN recognition of his leading role at the humanitarian level. "His Highness' humanitarian and philanthropic efforts have drawn applause from various international quarters," he said, underlining in particular Sheikh Sabah's instrumental role in unifying the GCC countries' ranks.
"His Highness the Amir has had a clear stamp in the realm of aiding stricken peoples, relieving poor states and improving their economies," said Dr. Baaboud.
As to the State of Kuwait, it has been among the pioneering countries with respect of offering donations and financial support for states in need for backing.
Dr. Rabeea Bin Sabah Al-Kawari, a renowned media professor at Qatar University, said the GCC leader's special praise for His Highness the Amir constituted an affirmation of his high status globally, noting his long record of humanitarian initiatives.
"We have been deeply pleased at the UN's selection of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait as a humanitarian leader at the global level; we as Arabs are boastful of this accomplishment," said the professor.
The State of Kuwait, under leadership of His Highness the Amir, has "treated a great deal of wounds, relieving the stricken and hosting refuge seekers since its establishment," said Dr. Ahmad Abdulmalak, a prominent media personality.
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), he said, has executed mega projects in many countries, thus "bolstering role of the Kuwaiti diplomacy," said Dr. Abdulmalak, noting how the philanthropic efforts have proven Kuwait helpful for Kuwait to broaden and solidify its network of ties with states of the globe.
Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Ansari, a professor at the faculty of law at the university, said His Highness the Amir is well known for his charitable efforts and humanitarian actions, also noting in this respect Kuwait's contributions to construction of many vital facilities such as hospitals and schools in a large number of countries.
Qataris were grateful and pleased with His Highness the Amir's successful efforts of tackling the inter GCC-rifts, he said, affirming that the consensus at the Doha summit would not have been attained without Sheikh Sabah's good-will intervention. (end) nnd.rk
