CAIRO, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Parliament Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan strongly denounced on Thursday the deadly attack by Israeli soldiers on Ziad Abu Ain, head of Anti-Wall and Settlement Commission and senior member of Fatah's revolutionary council.
"The heinous murder of Abu Ain is another evidence for the policy of state terrorism systematically pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities," Al-Jarwan said in a statement here.
"The racist Israeli occupation authorities prove once again that they pay no heed to the international conventions relating to human rights. "The cowardly attack on martyr Abu Ain should prompt the international community, particularly the United Nations, to shoulder its responsibility for providing protection for the Palestinian people pursuant to the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention," he stressed.
He urged all international active players to empower the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and establish their independent state on their land with Jerusalem as its capital.
He warned Israel of persisting in attempts to impose a fait accompli in the occupied Palestinian territories and destabilize the middle East through the recent air attacks on sites inside Syria under international connivance.
Israeli soldiers attacked Abu Ain and struck him in the chest while he was trying to plant olive trees in Turmusiya village, near the West Bank city of Ramallah, yesterday midday; he collapsed and breathed his last at hospital shortly afterwards. (end) mfm.aff.gb
