'Doha Declaration' calls for establishing new era of collective action among member states

DOHA, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The 'Doha Declaration' issued follwoing the conclusion of the 35th GCC summit , which wrapped up its deliberations here tonight, stressed the need to establish a new era of collective action among member states to confront the challenges facing their security and stability which requires a unified policy based on the foundations and the goals of the Gulf system.
This came in the 'Doha Declaration' on the solidarity of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was read by the Secretary General of the GCC, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani at the closing session of the summit.
The leaders stressed the need to exercise individual and collective joint action to provide an appropriate environment for the welfare of the GCC citizens and the consolidation of their rights to progress and safe living.
The Declaration expressed satisfaction and appreciation of the national executive steps for the sake of integration, solidarity and comprehensive Gulf unity to secure the future of the Gulf peoples and achieve their aspirations and hopes.
It noted to the GCC countries' commitment to solidarity, through exercise and approach, in order to ensure the maintenance of the security of the Gulf while adhering to Islamic and Arab identity and maintain the integrity of all the GCC countries.
It also asserted the leaders' commitment to continuing cooperation and achieve the aspirations of the Gulf peoples, support the historical ties and common interests among the GCC countries. (end) kt
