ISTANBUL, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad and Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin discussed here on Monday ways and means of bolstering and cementing bilateral relations, mainly in the security field.
During the meeting, the Kuwaiti general stressed the depth of Kuwaiti-Turkish relations as a model for international ties thanks to mutual credibility, cooperation and similar views on many positions and crises.
He said his visit to Turkey is part of previously inked security agreements in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, hoping that bilateral cooperation would meet expectations.
He recalled that the recent visit to Ankara by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had actually contributed to a further promotion and consolidation of bilateral relations in various domains.
He added that he was impressed by the Turkish experiment of hosting Syrian refugees, noting that Turkey boasts regional and international political weight.
Kuwait and Turkey signed a security agreement in Istanbul in 2005 over bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, drugs, smuggling and illegal immigration. (end) amn.mt
