ISLAMABAD, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- The 7th Plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) hosted by Pakistan begun on Monday in the eastern city of Lahore with the theme "Quest for Asian Parliament in Asian Century".
The 7th APA session will see participation of parliaments from 27 Asian countries including Kuwait as well as a number of international observer organizations.
The international parliamentary conference includes plenary sessions; meetings of Standing Committees devoted to political, economic, cultural and social affairs as well as a special meeting of women parliamentarians of the APA. The conference will conclude with the adoption of Lahore Declaration.
Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan and President of APA, Senator Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari in his message conveyed special appreciation and gratitude to the delegates who had participated in the proceedings and made the Assembly a success; in fact the largest Assembly in the history of APA.
He called a strong and mutually beneficial regional integration a dire pre-requisite and prelude to the establishment of a fully representative and vibrant Asian parliament. (end) sbk.tg
